RUTH BAND INTERVIEW

This month in AWOE Bandwith our featured band is RUTH a fresh band on Tooth & Nail Records. Our interview is with Dustin Matthew Ruth the lead vocalist, fully representing Justin CarterSchiermeister (bass), Reid Van Atta (drums) and and Nicholas Ace Wiinikka (guitarist).

AWOE: How did Ruth begin?

Dustin: I've been writing music since I was fourteen. Spent seven years out of high school pursuing a career. Ruth started about two years ago when I was introduced to Justin and Nick. At this point in my life God had changed my heart and the music. Before I was living life for myself, partying, doing drugs and living a soiled life- style.

AWOE: How did you guys choose the name ruth?

Dustin: Ruth is an acranym for Return Us To Him. This is the mission statement for the band. This music God blesses us with keeps us in check and on the right track. We want it to give people that same kind of hope we get from it.

AWOE: How did you guys come to Christ?

Dustin: Each of us grew up in Christian homes. With great parents. This gave us all we needed for a strong foundation, but being on the road ect...causes you to find a faith of your own. This is why our parents hard work and dedication really paid off.

AWOE: Ruth EP

Dustin: Well the ep is really good but I'd rather tell you about the record coming out June 26th. Its called Secondhand Dreaming. Its coming out on Tooth and Nail records. Secondhand Dreaming comes from the verse in Psalms where it says " seek God first and He will give you the desires of you heart" hence "secondhand dreams"

AWOE: What’s the story behind the song All I've Got?

Dustin: All I’ve Got is a song about the fact that "all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God" Romans 3'23. But God loves us anyway.
