Finding Her New Life
In Jesus

Janice Vega grew up in the south Bronx in a single family home. Her mom held down many jobs to help support her and her older brother. Her father was incarcerated and served 11 years in Federal Prison.
Janice was always involved in the performing arts since a young child. Dancing was her passion but she always wanted to rap. She loved to entertain. At the age of seventeen her brother became a born again Christian and she knocked him. She wasn't ready to leave all and follow Christ. She kept on searching for an outlet to express herself through rap and dance. She was looking for love that she didn't get from her father, due to his absence in her youth. At twenty four, she was on the verge of getting a record deal. A good friend who was managing her had set-up appointments for Sonshine to meet with Jay Z and Jermaine Dupree. Sonshine wondered if a record deal was going to satisfy her.
One night, she was sitting in her sister-in-law kitchen crying out and her sister-in-law told her that she needed Jesus, plain and simple. It was then that Janice heard the Lord’s voice and surrendered her life to Christ. That was in Feb of 2005. She's been serving the Lord since. On April of 2006, Sonshine got engaged and is going to get married Oct 2008.

A Nu Generation

Hey! What’s up, I’m Devon also known as Jooce.
I was born in E.N.Y. Brooklyn and now live in da Bronx. I’m 17 years old and also the youngest member of Nu Soul Generation. I came to NuSoul at the age of 15 when Pastor Eli approached me about my rapping. God used him to bring out my gifting.
Pastor Eli knew I was a young kid just getting into trouble with school and the streets and advised me to put my energy into writing. Since then I’ve seen God work in my life and anoint my gift of rapping and singing. It’s through all my hard times that I write and My Savior is glorified.
