Jmiah: So I just try to stay focused on the mission… to pursue having influence in this crazy and wild industry to actually turn it around and use it to impact a generation. I get hated on for it… judged for it, but I don’t mind… I’m after a generation to show them JESUS loves them and we need to realize it’s not about rules and regulations of Christianity… it’s about having a REAL relationship with HIM!
Jen G: What is a common misconception about Christians who do model and bodybuilders?
Jmiah: People think it’s a fornicating sin to model with your shirt off!!!
(Laughs) Oh well… I just ask them what do they wear when they go to the beach? My body is the temple of God, and I do my best to not be a stumbling block, but people will lust after you if you have a turtleneck on. You can’t live in fear, you’ve got to live in balance and use wisdom.
Do I wear a shirt in church?!
OF COURSE!!! It’s controversial, but it’s just keeping everything in the right place. Most fitness stuff concerns outdoors and in the gym or at the beach, so just leave it there. I don’t go without a shirt in the mall either… people just want be critical sometimes. No biggie. Just run your race!
Jen G: How have you seen God receive the honor and glory from what you do?
Jmiah: Yes and no. I’m human. I’ve touched it… but had to drop it once I realized I messed up. It’s not easy to not touch the glory sometimes, but I have learned to let God have HIS glory and He will give you YOUR REWARD. It’s just learning your place and the agreement between you and God (His Word). I can tell you some AMAZING stories though of how people have talked to me and wanted prayer because I was in a position and status of influence… wow… now that’s super cool! To utilize your “fame” or whatever you want call it to touch someone’s life… that’s what it’s all about!
Jen G: What would you say to other Christians who feel called to be in the modeling or body building industry, but aren't sure it's godly?
Jmiah: Keep your heart pure… it’s a HARD industry with a LOT of pressure to suck you into the world’s spirit. Guard your heart, stay in the Word, hold each other up, and be a blessing!
Jen G: What has your experience been in dealing with others who are not Christians when they find out you are?
Jen G: Oh it’s been so cool sometimes when people have said they liked me before they ever knew I was a Christian. WOW! That means my actions speak louder than my words… I love that!! Once they found out, they were so interested in who I am and what I do. So cool!
Jen G: What has some of the positives been when you've shared your story and why it's important for you to stay fit?
Jmiah: OH MY GOSH!! I started working out years ago to just be in good health… and it’s led to this. I would say you never know what might come from taking care of yourself, but I will say this… if you take care of God’s temple, He will take care of YOU!
